Star Assault is an action game developed and distributed by Kalypso Media. Star Assault developers claim that this title is "a perfect mixture between "Wing Commander" and "Battlestar Galactica". Indeed, it is a game that brings a lot of action in its over 30 challenging missions with carrier management and ranking system, all this included in an incredible story plot.
So, Star Assault takes players to the year 2253 when the Sparks (a ruthless alien race) attack a group of human pioneers who are exploring space for new sources of energy and colonization possibilities. During this savage attack the Sparks succeed in destroying the warp gate, thus leaving these explorers far away from Earth. Now, humans must fight the aliens in order to survive and be able to come back home.
Players will have the opportunity to flight a start fighter fulfilling the missions and engaging in cutthroat battles against the Sparks. At first the player gets a small ship, but as he advances in rank, he will reach a higher status and may get to lead wingmen in the fights. All these features make this action game really interesting and enjoyable. Besides, its AI will attempt different kinds of attacks making it very difficult for the player to master. Fortunately, space jumps will help him to get from one point to another in an instant, avoiding imminent death.
Aircraft upgrades are mandatory when a mission is finished in order to be ahead of the attackers. Adjustable ship parts are shields, reactor and propulsion. Laser guns, rail guns, heat seekers and rockets are the options when it comes to weapons, and I can say for sure that players will certainly need to get the best of them in order to face the implacable enemies.
All in all, Star Assault is able to deliver relentless space fights, which all space-shooter fans will love.
